UCB Theatre

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Hi to anyone that happens to be reading this!

Amazingly, we have more than one announcement in the space of a month. We just booked our 2nd Show Of All Time, although I use the word “booked” very loosely. Charlyne Yi invited us to play her Music Box show at the UCB Theatre on January 30th. Typically she is the hostess of comedy/music/improv types of shows, but she assures us in this case that we don’t have to bring the funny, just the tunes, which gives us no small amount of relief since we have no funny songs. Our set will be an awesomely short 11 minutes and Charlyne will be performing her original songs and she made a mention of an opera singer performing too. I’m about 75% certain that she was telling the truth about the opera singer (I hope so).

Here’s the link to the event should have you have any interest in attending:

Wow, I feel like we’re a “real band” now.

The first GK show!

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

It is official. We are playing our first show.

It is at Mr. T’s Bowl in Highland Park on January 27th with Liz Pappademas, The Sweet Hurt and The Breakups. That pretty much encapsulates all that I know about this show. I can’t really tell you what time we’re on or when the show starts. Lame, I know, but that is the way of Mr. T’s Bowl I am told. Here is a link to Mr. T’s website in case you need directions or just want to see some garish formatting and hilariously cheesy gifs:

What I can tell you is that we’ve listened to the other bands/musicians and we think they are really awesome and we are honored to share a stage with them.

Please do not feel obligated to attend this show out of some kind of loyalty to us as friends. I’m not gonna lie to you, to say we’ll be “rough around the edges” is putting it gently. This is our first show and we’re terrified to perform in front of others. That said, I would also like to add that we are a bit excited to finally get out there. Hopefully more shows will follow soon.
Huge thanks to Jake from the Breakups for inviting us to play. It is possible and likely that we’d never have taken the step to play live were it not for his encouragement.
